In this piece paper was created using old clothing and then reconstituted in fabric patches to create a quilt. The piece was performed outside with a bedroom scene.

Notice how Megan is sewing the piece, and the bed and dresser are empty. The scene is a depiction of a missing mother. The bed and the dresser included pieces from Megan's own mother's room and they were setup to mimics the actual bedroom as accurately as possible.

The piece after installation received critical acclaim and is currently on display at the Northern Illinois University Art Building on the second floor across from the art gallery

Below are close up pictures of the fabric to demonstrate the texture and grains. I have been working on updating the site a little bit. There are not major changes to the layout, because Meg and I are quite partial to it. However I have cleaned a few things up, added a Links section and added a syndication link. These are located on the bottom of the sidebar to the right.

Meg has been quite busy lately teaching some art classes as well as educating herself in a fabrics class. I plan to photograph the results of the fabrics class and some of her more recent projects soon and have them posted onto the website here. In the mean time please feel free to look around. I will be adding some links to the links section shortly. The links will mostly included art related websites, but may also feature the occasional website that Meg finds interesting. This is assuming of course the "Genius artist" herself decides to post on this beloved blog.

Thanks guys.M.A.S.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8684555.post-1117835260662712732005-06-03T16:47:00.000-05:002005-06-03T16:47:40.663-05:00Hi all, Long time no see.Hello everyone. Those of you who visit are probably wondering what the heck happened here. Well, I am not Meg. I am Matt, her boyfriend and new webmaster. Since Megan has a general fear of the internet and lazy tendancies for updating her website I have decided to take command.

Expect to see more regular updates of art and information from Coffeebean Studios from here on out.M.A.S.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8684555.post-1106938409820448372005-01-28T13:53:00.000-06:002005-01-28T13:00:45.020-06:00Oriental Poetry<img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #ffffff 1px solid; Within the shrine, i have found objects gathered from my treasures i collect(im such a pack-rat! my boyfriend, matt, complains all the time...but i know all you artists out there know what it's like!) The point im trying to address here is how we mistreat our earth, and that if we continue, all we will remember is what we read in books. meghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01866530973622950699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8684555.post-1099374307504783652004-11-01T23:45:00.000-06:002004-11-01T23:56:39.676-06:00
"Momento" (mkc.02)
meghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01866530973622950699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8684555.post-1099374118215935502004-11-01T23:41:00.000-06:002004-11-01T23:54:30.246-06:00
These are some images from a mixed media book I made at my junior college, that was entered in the annual art show. Let me be the first to say thank you to all the teachers out there for doing what they do! I totally have a new found respect for them, well at least all those that really love what they do and make a difference. Teaching is not easy to do, and I thought it went terribally this Friday for me and my group. Im sure many people start off bad, but it just so hard to imagine it will get easier. My next time I "teach"(I have a group of three that ends up leading the class) will be next Friday, and I hope I come back with some more positive feeback from it. Trying to control a class, get the students to listen, to learn and to respect is tough going...and something I don't think anyone can teach you. You just have to keep at it, and the more your around them, the more comfortable everything feels....at least I hope so!
meghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01866530973622950699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8684555.post-1098146532558015852004-10-18T19:42:00.000-05:002004-10-18T19:42:12.556-05:00
Miograpies sample book meghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01866530973622950699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8684555.post-1098146294442131772004-10-18T19:38:00.000-05:002004-10-18T19:53:41.333-05:00
This is a commission I did for a women, as a sample for her company, Miographies, http://www.miographies.com/ which are personal biograpies that are created to capture the life and essence of people. This book was hand bound with fine silk brocade bookcloth, and handmade Japanese papers, and interleaved with woven and raw silk paper. It rests in a claim shell box, made of bookcloth, ribbons and ephemera, and transfered images. I love making books and playing with paper and colors and textures. I wish i had more time to create them, but classes and life is just so hectic now, all i have time to do creativly is get inspired by my favorite art magizines Sumerset Studios, and Dog Eared and Artitude 'Zine. check them out sometime...you'll be bursting with creative juices!
meghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01866530973622950699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8684555.post-1098079650923049662004-10-18T01:04:00.000-05:002004-10-18T01:07:30.923-05:00well its a work in progess, so it seems on my self portrait...it can get so frusterating when you see yourself, and then you can't seem to recreate it. portrait drawing can be very tricky...but i guess practice makes perfect, so i will keep at it
meghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01866530973622950699noreply@blogger.com
